When you walk into my bedroom, the light coming from the window makes all of the pale colours of the duvet brighten and stand out, the fairy lights on the wall decorate the empty space above my bed with bravo. Pale blues and pinks float around the room as if they were natural colours meant to be there, the black wire fox on the wall is friendly and welcoming when you walk into my room, almost like a hotel clerk. My bed is against the wall where the door is, usually covered in pillows and fluffy blankets. Beside my bed is my ladder-like shelf, it has a flower on the top and books lined up neatly on the bottom, my alarm clock occupies the middle shelf along with my bedside lamp. my black and white beanbag sits in the corner like a cow. If you follow the light grey curtain to the entrance of my closet you can see another door, walk past the closet of colourful clothing and shoes and books, and through the door is my bathroom, the first thing to catch your eye would be the incense bottle that has thin twigs sticking out of it, it smells like pomegranates. What else you would see might be the blue triangles that hang above the toilet with a white cheetah standing proud with its golden crown. the shower is grey and black, hiding the hair that has most likely fallen on the floor in days previous. My closet is a quiet place, if you sit on the floor you feel dwarfed by the jacket hanging on the left and the shirts and dresses hanging behind you, my shoes are neatly organized into three rows on the floor underneath my jackets and hoodies. Up in the top right-hand corner of the top shelf in my closet, there is a basket filled with stuffed toys of all kinds, I have a frog that has the name of Freddie, and a purple teddy bear in a purple dress called, Mr. Perkins. On the top left hand of the top shelf, I have a piano put back into its box, and a calligraphy set that has been open and attempted. In the main part of my room, the colours I chose to decorate it with were pale blues and pinks and a bit of gold to highlight the gold writing in a frame on the feature wall.

As the sunlight streams through the opaque glass that protects the delicate buds inside, the frost creeps closer to the door. The only indicator of life inside the greenhouse is the build-up of condensation on the window panes. Sliding the rickety door open, a gale of warm, humid air found me through the slight frost edging my coat. The rare Christella dentata fern curls out to welcome me as I shut the door behind me, green and silver chimes called greetings from around the room. The roses from last season had only given me the precious one flower that seemed to drip red onto the floor, and the bluebells that sang had started to fall and droop against the window sill. My greenhouse had started to wilt from the recent cold, come down from the vibrant high of spring, what I now see as I sit in the old French chair in the center of the garden, was a fading wonderland. The tiger lilies that came from my Aunt Jane a month ago had bloomed quickly and died with a silent wail, it’s leaves had shriveled and fallen to the table top it sat upon. I do not know why the snow had to come so early this year, my garden had been beautiful with all of its many colours and fragrances, but it’s obvious now that it was not to be. Even the pomegranate tea my mother had sent was cold and unfavorable.
